Formacio Bàsica, the linguistic project within Servei Solidari, gives language education to adults of migrant origin who have recently arrived to the Barcelona region. Learning the local languages allows them to become part of the community and to broaden their labour and social opportunities. For those migrants who have little schooling in their country of origin or do not know the latin alphabet, we provide literacy courses. In particular, we want to engage them in the use of tablets in order to learn how to break through computer illiteracy at the same time that they are learning to write and read in Catalan and Spanish.
